California Giant Salamander

Dicamptodon ensatus
(Eschscholtz, 1833)
Santa Cruz Co., California. May 3, 2014.

My first Dicamptodon was a larvae sporting gills, observed in a shallow stream in Santa Cruz Co. A week later, in the last hour of the last day of my visit to the Bay Area, I found several adults in Marin Co.

My Flickr album for this species is here.

HerpMapper records for this species are here.
