Cocha Whiptail

Kentropyx altamazonica
(COPE, 1875)
Madre Selva Field Station, Depto. Loreto, Peru. January 10, 2011.

Look at the powerful legs on this lizard! Kentropyx altamazonica frequents forest clearings and tree falls, and is quite capable of leaving the scene in a flash. I see them quite often along the banks of rivers, and occasionally have found them in rafts of floating vegetation.

My Flickr album for this species is here.
