Texas Nightsnake

Hypsiglena jani texana
Stejneger 1893
Val Verde Co., Texas. May 20, 1999.

My first Texas nightsnake was found under a section of tin behind Chamberlain’s store, a famous pit stop for field herpers in Langtry. I have had the best luck checking behind gas stations, restaurants and other buildings everywhere I go – there is usually something back there for herps to hide under. The photos of that snake are lost – pictured is a texana from Brewster Co., Texas in 2014 – Texas 2014 album is here.

My Flickr album for this species is here.

HerpMapper records for this species are here.
