Yellow-headed Temple Turtle

Heosemys annandalii
(Boulenger, 1903)
Lat Krabang, Thailand. February 17, 2016.

This was a fascinating species to observe – the juveniles and sub-adults feature a tricarinate carapace, which disappears when the turtle reaches a certain size (and they get big). We saw these in the park behind our hotel in Lat Krabang, in downtown Bangkok, and in the wild at Khao Yai National Park.
