Arizona Ridge-nosed Rattlesnake

Crotalus willardi willardi
MEEK 1905
Santa Cruz Co., Arizona. August 1, 2000

My first three willardi in Arizona were all found by ear – they rattled before I ever saw them. Pictured is the second snake, which rattled at me from a clump of bunchgrass.
