Baja Striped Whipsnake

Masticophis aurigulus
(Cope, 1861)
Baja Sur, Mexico. September 6, 2015.

This snake was found in the foothills of the Sierra Laguna Mountains, just to the northeast of Cabo San Lucas. Matt Cage spotted the serpent’s head, barely sticking out thick vegetation, and made a mighty grab before the snake could bolt.
