Blue-spotted Salamander

Ambystoma laterale
Hallowell, 1856
Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. September 14, 2009.

Our group was walking back to the vehicles at the end of a day’s herping, when I casually mentioned to Carl Koch that I had yet to find a Blue Spot. “You’re kidding! I have a spot for them right by here, I’ll get you one”. Carl took off a ahead of us, and by the time we had reached our parking spot, he had a laterale for me, finding it nearby in a patch of woods. I took these photos as the day faded to black. Here’s to you, Carl.
