Eastern Cottonmouth

Agkistrodon piscivorus piscivorus
(LACÉPÈDE, 1789)
Scotland Co., North Carolina. May 22, 1998.

Cottonmouths were a common find around a small fishing lake in sand hill country. My original photos are lost, the images here were taken when I returned to the place in 2007.

NOTE: I have not followed the Agkistrodon synonomies of Burbrink & Guiher 2014, pending further studies making use of appropriate sample sizes.

My Flickr album for this species is here.

HerpMapper records for this species are here.
