Variable Rain Frog

Pristimantis variabilis
(Lynch, 1968)
Madre Selva field station, Depto Loreto, Peru. January 16, 2011.

Some pristimantids can be difficult to identify without getting the frog in hand and checking markings on the ventral surfaces and legs. This frog’s most prominent feature is a pair of yellow flash marks that extend from the thighs onto the groin. A thin vertebral stripe may be present.
