Wood Frog

Lithobates sylvaticus
(LeConte, 1825)
Vermilion Co., Illinois. June 16, 1997

Once I learned to love getting out in the field in late winter and early spring, Wood Frog sightings moved from an occasional encounter in some damp forest, to a seasonal show with a cast of hundreds. Often they are the first amphibian of the year for me. The frog pictured here is a 2006 specimen from Kentucky.

My Flickr album for this species is here.

HerpMapper records for this species are here.
