I wish I could have gotten closer to this basking slider, but the rain-swollen Rio Grande was running too high and too fast. I had to settle for telephoto shots from the far bank, doing the basking turtle shuffle – take a shot, take a few steps forward, take another shot, and repeat until the turtle dropped off the log.
