Striped Mud Turtle

Kinosternon baurii
(Garman, 1891)
Everglades, Miami-Dade Co., Florida. July 17, 2016.

Walking along a trail through a gumbo-limbo hammock, I spotted this turtle swimming about in a small pool. The lighting was terrible, dappled and reflecting off an oily scum on the surface of the pool; I managed a few vaguely turtle-looking shots. I did enjoy watching the little kinosternid trundle about the bottom of the pool in search of prey.
