Granite Night Lizard

Xantusia henshawi
Stejneger, 1893
San Diego Co., California. March 30, 2012.

One of the more interesting lizards I saw on my first trip to southern California and Baja Norte. We found a number of these under small rocks, and they blend in nicely with their surroundings.  Xantusia commemorates the Hungarian naturalist John Xantus.
