Reticulated Python

Malayopython reticulatus reticulatus
(Schneider 1801)
Kaeng Krachan Province, Thailand. February 27, 2016

Driving into Kaeng Krachan National Park at dusk, Tony stopped the vehicle and pointed. “Python in that tree.” And indeed, several feet of reticulated python were emerging from a hollow in a large tree, perhaps twenty feet off the ground. We stopped and managed to get a few pictures before the snake, at best guess a young adult, retracted itself back into the tree hollow. We were able to see more examples of this species in the days to come, but none as handsome as this one.
