Santa Catalina Night Snake

Hypsiglena catalinae
Tanner, 1966
Isla Santa Catalina, Baja Sur, Mexico. September 3, 2013.

The island’s endemic night snake is more closely related to the chlorophaea night snake clade on the Mexican mainland, over a hundred miles to the east. It is more distantly related to the ochrorhynchus clade found just thirty miles away on the Baja Peninsula.
