Sonora, Mexico. August 23, 2011.

When we went on our hot, sweaty hike up into tropical deciduous forest to find these tortoises, we knew that someone would eventually describe them as a new species.  The whole adventure is outlined in my blog post ‘A New Old Tortoise‘ over at Notes From The Field

My Flickr album for this species is here.
